Coaching Strategies to grow your Emotional Fitness

Coaching that blends the psychological, the spiritual and the practical to create a rich environment for mental wellness, internal motivation and purpose-driven living -

There is a lot of talk today about the state of humanity and our ability to function well in moving through each day. The people of the world have been through a lot and it doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon. The mind is something we take for granted that it will always serve us, but this just isn’t the case. Without care, compassion and intentional actions to keep it healthy, our ability to be resilient and cope with our surroundings can disintegrate quickly. The mind and the heart are very closely connected when we speak of emotional fitness, and this is where coaching strategies can make a world of difference!

Emotional fitness is the idea that the mind needs regular training and exercise, just like the body, in order to stay mentally (mind) and emotionally (heart) strong. Having good emotional fitness means that we can better cope with handling our emotions, thoughts and feelings and our reactions to everyday situations. It’s unlikely you can do this alone, but good strong Coaching support can help propel you forward.

Japanese Psychology is one of the tools I use and is a natural approach to dealing with the many challenges we face as humans; anxiety, worry, stress, depression, relationship issues and more can plague us at any moment without warning. This can happen just about anywhere at any time; work, home and social. Coaching for individuals and training for larger groups can create cohesion and life satisfaction for all who attend.

There are 2 topics we use to help combat these topics naturally; “Morita Therapy” (the Psychology of Action and Attention) and “Naikan” (the study of Gratitude and Self Reflection). There is a third component called Kaizan, which helps achieve the other 2 and teaches that making small incremental changes and being consistent will always take you where you want to go. The ideologies are rooted in Japan’s Eastern philosophies of gentle movement forward, and have wonderful, effective application in our Western part of the world. It can help to restore your balance, your confidence, and your ability to walk through all aspects of your life in an effective, confident and hopeful manner.

In my studies of traditional Psychology, Positive Psychology, Strengths Psychology and Japanese Psychology I have created a blend of information, tools and actions that will empower you and change your life. All without psychoanalysis and deep therapy sessions; it’s light, informative, fun and most exciting… it’s life changing!

Positive Intelligence is another method of dealing with the challenges that come at us. The goal with Positive Intelligence is to understand that we all have internal saboteurs. They were developed in childhood as a protection and to help us navigate our world. That’s the positive side, the negative side is that as adults, they wreak havoc in our world. With this modality, we work to weaken the saboteur, to strengthen the sage (the good part of the brain) and to build your self-command (your ability to choices and direct your brain instead of falling victim to the activity of those saboteurs. This was life changing information for me and couples very nicely with the Japanese Psychology philosophy.

So, what types of things will you learn?

Great question! Here are a few examples…

  • Mindset

  • Resilience

  • The power of innate talent

  • Personal Control and how to ignite it when the going gets tough

  • Understanding Comfort Zones and how to grow them

  • Knowing how you give your power away to people and things

  • Understanding assumptions and the devastation they create

  • Utilizing the tools of Attention, Acceptance and Action

  • Moving from feelings driven to purpose driven living

  • Understanding Conflict and how to move through it

  • Amazing Personal Growth and Strength developing strategies

  • Building Strong Relationships

  • Saboteurs, who they are, how they harm us and how to weaken them

  • Understanding your sage power and how to build the strength of those emotional pathways

  • Developing self command and taking control of your life back

More on Japanese Psychology… How do we learn to move like water?

Morita Therapy teaches us to walk through life like water moves through the earth. Nothing stops it; going over, around and under obstacles but it keeps on moving. This fluidity is possible in our lives as well, we just need to learn how to achieve it.

Morita Therapy

is a Japanese psychotherapy that through coaching, moves participants towards a position of acceptance and living in harmony with themselves and nature and focuses on:

  • Acceptance

  • Coexisting with Unpleasant Feelings

  • Working with your Attention

These are proven strategies for dealing with the challenges you face and creating resilience.

Naikan

(means “looking inside”) is a meditation type practise of self-reflection and gratitude and has its origin in Buddhism. The practice consists of 3 questions we ask ourselves in a time of reflection giving us a reality-based assessment of the day and our interactions with others. This is a great strategy when dealing with relationships.
